21 on Sunday, man do I feel old... ish. Got the same birthday as my friend , isn't that weird? I don't really take a lot of salt with my birthdays anymore, it's something I began to realize when I turned 16 that birthdays aren't as big of a deal as when you were 8 or 12. To me, it's a good excuse to drink Hopefully at an after party anyway, because I'm playing a gig Sunday night.

So I watched the trailer for Equestria Girls, several times, and here's my Applejack Honesty on the whole matter.
The Good
First of all, like I said in my last journal, I'm gonna give it a shot. Why? Because the writer's never let me down before (...eh, well maybe Games Ponies Play) and the beauty about the writing in MLP is when they develop a generic storyline like Keep Calm and Flutter On or A Canterlot Wedding and even Ticket Master they have the Midas Touch that transcends all of my previous expectations. I shamelessly still enjoy The Magical Mystery Cure, that's living proof. From what I've seen in the trailers I feel like I'm gonna be left pleasantly surprised after I watch it, and knowing the writers I'm sure there'll be an easter egg or two that make things even more enjoyable. Hell, I thought the CMC addition was fantastic and adorable, albeit a little confusing (are they in high school or middle school?).
The Bad
The only things that are gonna bother me about EQG are only because of my gender and age. I'm gonna be a 21 year-old dude on Sunday and like most dudes my age, teenage dramas are strictly for the teenage. I did like Degrassi The Next Generation when I was in middle school but I grew out of it because the teenage drama stuff wasn't doing anything for me anymore. I feel like EQG is gonna have a certain level of camp that will make me cringe slightly, but only slightly. So far I'm pretty optimistic about it.
The Ugly
Right now the fanbase is going through the same fucking bullshit as with Alicorn Twilight. Uggggghhh and Blargh! I remember a time when the only thing we had to bitch about was the Derpy Controversy, but even that was unenjoyable. I'm just looking at all these bronies bitching and complaining and thinking it's the end of the world and I feel like everyone of them have forgotten a simple fact: My Little Pony is a show for little girls. Hasbro and DHX are not catering to us adults. The brony fandom is pleasant surprise, but it is not us they're focused on. I'm pretty sure the target audience will find EQG more enjoyable than we will.

The cure is simple: If you don't like it, don't watch it, don't bitch about it! I for one am sick of all this hate towards the writers and animators. When I watch it and if I don't like it, I'm not gonna send hate mail to Hasbro, I'll simply dismiss it at that'll be the end of it.

On another note, I got my old landscaping job back, going into my third year on the job! The unfortunate thing is that most of the money I'll earn I won't be able to spend because my parents have gone all Karl Marx on me and want me to focus on paying off my student loan. To be far, I can see the point, but I don't make a whole lot on that job, and that leaves very little money for me to spend on myself, like buying really good music gear, the occasional leaf and sauce, and maybe go bowling maybe once or twice a week.

Alright, let's watch some goddamn cartoons!
